, juliette goodrich is at the hall of justice in san francisco with what police are saying tonight. >> reporter: tonight, san francisco police are investigating this sexual assault allegation involving 49ers' wide receiver michael crabtree. as of tonight, amid this investigation, cbs 5 has learned he is in atlanta with his team. san francisco police say the alleged sexual assault involving 49ers' michael crabtree occurred in a san francisco hotel room last sunday morning after the 49ers play-off victory over the green bay packers. today, crabtree was practicing with the team in santa clara. our cameras caught him literally running late to board the team bus as it was en route to the airport and then on to atlanta. in a news release, the san francisco police department said, quote, michael crabtree has been interviewed with his lawyer present and has cooperated in this investigation. michael crabtree has not been detained or arrested and has agreed to make himself available to investigators in the future. the 49ers say they are aware of the al

the super bowl, but san francisco city officials are already working on plans to keep crowds from getting out of control, if the 49ers win. kron 4's charles clifford has details on where things stand now. >> reporter: after the giants won the world series back in october, there were large crowds celebrating all over san francisco, things really got rowdy around mission and 22nd where people were blocking the street and lighting fires. there was also a large crowd and a bonfire outside att park and along market street a muni bus was vandalized and set on fire. the city, of course, is hoping to avoid a repeat of scenes like these if the 49ers win the super bowl. after the giants world series win, city officials learned a few things. for one, revelers started fires using garbage from near by trash cans. before the super bowl, the city will have the garbage picked up to literally remove fuel from the fires. muni may also make changes to bus and train routes along market street to avoid a repeat of this scene. the dpt will also be rerouting traffic around problem areas, like mission street, to

out of san francisco. where police are involved in a standoff with an armed man. kron 4's scott rates is live in the richmond district with the latest. scott? >> reporter: >> oi just checked with police and they are still confirming that he is barricaded himself inside. it is still a very active scene. this is as far up as i can get. as i show you this is the crisis negotiation team. they are trying to get some progress. several swat team members running across the street. this started at 3:00 p.m. and there were shots fired inside this home. they heard someone screaming and i also saw the bullet hole right through that front door toward that is when officers walked out and this began. and some of these nearby homes have been evacuated. there also reports from police that this man is mentally unstable and is in sight alone. in side-alone. we can see the swat team. and running across the street it looks like they are going right through this neighborhood. and there are several swat team members they could be possibly gaining entrance. i will keep you updated and i will stay out here. >

. this is a far cry from what san francisco mayor ed lee was talking about just a couple of days ago when he was thinking it might be best to limit serving up bar and alcohol on super bowl sunday. lee of course trying to prevent a repeat of the type of vandalism after the giants won the world series. not a ban, but an idea to serve responsibly. patrons said it really doesn't make sense to have this, and unfortunately, when it comes to vandalism, people use booze as an excuse. this quest for six, it might be a tough sell to limit the party. >> well, i think it's crazy. you can't make -- without partying in san francisco. we party for everything. just heard this is for one thing, for another thing, just cause more problems. >> a certain segment of people who are just kind of idiots! and they would do it any way. >> yeah, it doesn't matter. >> now, the city is also looking at different plans including the police approach. from what they learned after the world series, muni is also reviewing its plan, too, after a bus was vandalized following the world series. the spokesperson says they've got t

opened fire in san francisco's glenn park neighborhood. police were called to a home on alameda boulevard near silver avenue around 10:00 last night. when they arrived, they found an 80-year-old woman and 50- year-old man with gunshot wounds. both victims were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening wounds. anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call san francisco police. >>> a hayward police dog is being praised tonight for sniffing out a key piece of evidence in a suspected gang shooting. the hayward police department tweeted this picture last night of canine officer nikki finding a handgun near some bushes. police say the gun was found a few hours after a gang shooting nearby. the tweet included a line reading, quote, you can't hide from the nose. >>> in san jose, fire crews are on the scene right now of a two- alarm house fire. the fire at a home on gara road near mount pleasant road started about two hours ago, producing a plume of thick, black smoke you can see in the picture could be seen for miles. a viewer posted this photo on our facebook page. six people man

: new tonight at eight. san francisco's mayor has floated the idea of making mission bay. area of the city. kron 4's charles clifford has details. this is a letter from san francisco mayor ed lee's office to the metropolitan transportation commission. in it the mayor suggests that as part of a long term redevelopment plan, the city should remove a portion of interstate 280 and alter the caltrains station along king street. let's take a look at a google earth map so i can show what we're talking about this is interstate 280 looking north towards downtown san francisco. what the mayor is proposing is demolitioning this section of 280 between 16th street and downtown and replacing it with a new ground level parkway. right now, this area, know as mission bay, is mostly industrial, but the mayor says if 280 were removed the land could be redeveloped into homes and businesses... basically creating a new neighborhood. now, this wouldn't be the first time this has happened in san francisco. the embarcadero freeway was demolished and replaced in 1991, and in 2005 a portion of the centra
